HEX ↔ RGB ↔ HSL, with a live picker.
Convert a color between HEX, RGB and HSL notations. Type a hex code or use the picker, and all three formats update live. Handy for CSS, design systems and matching brand colors. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Color format conversion translates between three common representations: HEX (#RRGGBB, each pair is a 00-FF hex value), RGB (red, green, blue as 0-255 integers), and HSL (hue 0-360 degrees, saturation 0-100%, lightness 0-100%). HEX to RGB splits the hex string into pairs and converts each to decimal. RGB to HSL normalizes values to 0-1, finds min/max, computes lightness as (max+min)/2, saturation based on the difference, and hue from which channel is maximum. The converter handles all three formats bidirectionally.
Yes — shorthand like #abc is expanded to #aabbcc automatically.
Hue, Saturation, Lightness — an intuitive way to describe color that's easy to tweak for shades and tints.
RGB describes colors by mixing red, green, and blue light — intuitive for displays but hard to adjust intuitively. HSL describes hue (color), saturation (vividness), and lightness (brightness) — easier to create harmonious color palettes and adjust brightness.
Alpha (A in RGBA/HSLA) controls opacity from 0 (fully transparent) to 1 (fully opaque). RGBA(255,0,0,0.5) is semi-transparent red. Use alpha for overlays, gradients, and layering effects.
